What to bring if I teach in China?

What to bring? We often get asked this question, and our advice is to pack only what you really need. Such as essentials like clothes (some for summer and winter), good footwear, toiletries etc. Oh, and for the girls, make-up. Sometimes it can be hard to buy the same brands here as there are in western countries, so if you do have a favorite brand, maybe stock up! Everything is so cheap in China, a lot of things you can buy when you are here and it’s not nice having to lug a heavy suitcase everywhere. We promise you’ll end up accumulating a lot of stuff in the time you are here anyway so it’s best to pack light.
Bringing a laptop is fine, however if you don't have one there are plenty of internet bars especially in the cities and big towns.
Bringing at pet to China on the other hand is very risky and involves a lot of expense. Considering Chinese people have only just startng keeping pets, there are few kennels and even fewer vets. Teachers may often be placed in high rise apartments where it is perhaps unsuitable to keep cats and dogs. You also have to consider how often will you be at home and who will care for your pet when your not there. By:David 2009-5-11 14:29:32working time
